Building a Healthy Community

With initial outreach programs dating back to 1969, Somerset West Community Health Centre (SWCHC) has been  serving its surrounding community for more than 35 years. Since its earliest days as a small healthcare clinic operating out of “borrowed” facilities above a tavern, SWCHC has been dedicated to the health of our community.

Today, the Centre’s mission has expanded its focus from primary care to include comprehensive cutting-edge community-based programs, programs that address people’s overall well-being – social, mental and physical – in the context of building healthy families and communities.

"SWCHC is a well-established organization, but is not just content with past successes. Those involved at all levels of the organization share a passion for their work and respect for each other. They continually reflect on past practice and work to improve what they do in the interests of SWCHC clients and community."
