About Us
Somerset West Community Health Centre (SWCHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health centre in Ottawa, providing comprehensive primary care and community services to individuals and families, with a strong focus on health equity and culturally responsive care.
Its mission is to support people and communities to enjoy the best possible health and well-being. This is done by providiCall for Nominationng primary health care and social services, and promoting access to the social conditions that influence health, such as housing, food security, employment and civic engagement.
Board of Directors
Somerset West Community Health Centre is seeking 3 new members to join its Board of Directors. Board members must be willing to attend a monthly Board meeting, and participate on one Committee. The Centre can provide assistance with child care for meetings, and for transportation for meetings when in-person meetings resume, if necessary.
Our Centre values the diversity of individuals on our board and in our programs and services. As the organization looks ahead to its next strategic planning cycle, we are seeking Board members who will help advance our future direction and strengthen our connection to the communities we serve.
We are particularly interested in individuals who bring:
Lived or caregiver experience related to mental health, substance use, housing insecurity, or poverty
Strong connections to community, including experience in grassroots, peer-led, or community-based leadership
Perspectives currently underrepresented at our Board table, including Indigenous voices and emerging leaders
Individuals residing within the Somerset West catchment area (hyperlink to map)
We welcome candidates who are interested in thoughtful, collaborative, and committed to advancing equitable, community-informed care.

Individuals interested in joining the Board of Directors are encouraged to express their interest by June 6th, 2026. Members will be voted onto the Board at the Centre's Annual General Meeting in September 2026..
